Fra museet / From the museum

The Vigeland Museum, together with the National Museum in Cracow, has been granted NOK 1.400.000,- to an exhibition project which is a collaboration between the two institutions. The financial funds are donated from the Cultural Exchange Fund for cultural cooperation between Norway and Poland. The Cultural Exchange Fund is financed by EØS-finance arrangements.

The funds will be used for two exhibitions in the respective museums, which will present Gustav Vigeland's sculptures together with Polish sculptures from the period 1890-1914.

This is an important opportunity to present Gustav Vigeland's work to a Polish audience, at the same time as it is interesting to present an almost unknown connection between Vigeland and Polish sculpure. The connection is mainly due to the Polish writer Stanislaw Przybyszewski, who was married to the Norwegian Dagny Juel. and who presented Vigeland's work in Poland in the 1890's.

The exhibitions will be shown at the Vigeland Museum in the summer 2010 and at the National Museum in Cracow the following winter.
