Welcome to the launch of the catalogue Familiar Abstractions and artist talk

Wednesday 10 April at 19-21

In connection with Michael Johanssons solo exhibition Familiar Abstractions, The Vigeland Museum launches a catalogue which documents the process from Michael Johansson’s studio to the final exhibition in the museum. In addition, the catalogue contains texts which presents two different approaches to Johansson’s works. Jörgen Svensson, artist and curator at Värmland Konstmuseum, provides a personal angle. As an artist he writes about his time as professor at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, where he became acquainted with Johansson, who was a student there. Jarle Strømodden, Director of the Vigeland Museum, examines Johanssson’s artwork in an art historical perspective, where he among other things draws parallels to artists such as Rachel Whiteread, Jessica Stockholder and Tony Cragg.

The catalogue is published with support from The Fritt Ord Foundation and Arts Council Norway.
