Organisation
The Vigeland Museum is a part of the Agency for Cultural Affairs in The City of Oslo. The Agency of Cultural Affairs was established the 1 April 2008, after the Agency of Culture and Sport Facilities was splitted in two different departements. The Agency for Cultural Affairs wants, as The City of Oslo's "adventure departement", to give the capitol a qualitative, diversitive and traditional proposition of culture.
The Vigeland Museum belongs to the Agency of Cultural Affair's section Art and archive, who has the responsibility of concervation, research and education in the three museums: The Munch Museum, The Stenersen Museum and The Vigeland Museum with the sculptures in the Vigeland Park. Art in Oslo is The City of Oslo's professional authority concerning work's of art and supervise The City of Oslo's public art, including the city's outside sculptures.
The Conservation Departement is also organized as a part of the section Art and Archive, and are located in the Munch Museum and the Vigeland Museum. The Conservation Departement looks after the three museum's and Art in Oslo's conservation work, and perform technical research and treatment.
